Many can quickly get prequalified over the phone. Even if this is not your first home purchase, you may still need to prequalify for your next home.

Why Prequalify?

Prequalifying is a good and very important first step in the home buying process. It's a necessary step in order to get started.
Getting prequalified carries a number of advantages. From knowing how much home you can afford to informing a seller that you are serious and ready to buy.

In order to calculate the price of home you can afford, your financial position needs to be assessed. By prequalifying for a given loan amount, you can adequately shop for a home within your price range.

Prequalification Letter
A lender may provide you with a prequalification letter, however neither your or the lender are required to do business with each other. The letter only states that you have undergone the prequalification process and it confirms a price range you and your REALTOR® will need.

What You Typically Need to Prequalify
You can save a lot of time in the prequalification process by preparing some information before you get started.

• Personal information (e.g. Name, Phone Number, Address, Date of Birth)
• Social security number
• Recent pay stubs, W2 Forms for 2 years, or other proof of
• employment and salary
• If you are self-employed, balance sheets, income statements and
• tax returns for the past 2 years.
